My first tutorial after summer break was with Lucy and I was very interested to see what she thought of the project development. I showed her that my main research question had changed slightly and was now “How is identity being constructed through the concept of ‘beauty’ and phygital experiences?“
I spoke about how I had come to the decision of removing the fourth industrial revolution aspect along with the aspect of health and wellness which was discussed in my initial ILP. I did this in order to make my project more succinct and as my primary research was showing that wellness was about separating mind and body as opposed to exploring the duality of it. As well as this, I explained the new title of Perception Spa, unlike digital spa, this dealt with lots of my themes.
Lucy read over the first draft of my essay and suggested I include more signposts for the reader, in order to guide them through my project. The main element I discussed was the structure of the evaluative commentary, I asked lots of questions with regards to structure and tone of voice. Lucy reiterated that my critical analysis needs to show a 50/50 link between theory and practice and discuss context within the project.
I discussed that as my project was speculative, I was still planning on creating a series of short format films in varying styles (CCTV, POV, selfie, virtual etc) as a form of practice based research.
A big decision we made was to stick to interviewing Gen Z – not milleneals and Gen X aswell, which will streamline the project.
