My research in the last unit was so heavily rooted in beauty that I felt that aspect was more developed than others, therefore I haven’t been focusing as much on it. I found this proposed law interesting as it reminded me of the ban on beauty filters that Instagram instigated last year.
A new proposition for a law regarding the declaration of editing images of self has been announced as they create a “warped sense of beauty”.
I found the response interesting, particularly the idea that it would only apply to a celebrity – who counts as a celebrity? Likewise, what about cosmetic procedures, because they are a physical alteration are they classed as ‘real’? Also ‘what about ugly people, it’s not fair for them?’ made me laugh.
