Following Agnes’ advice, I looked into affect theory and have been really immersed in this research!
Overall the theory seeks to organise affects, in their relation to bodily feelings which are subjectively experienced.
This has got me thinking more specifically about the methodology for my work in terms of literary theory. I am interesting in challenging semiotic and conventional notions of deriving meaning from things – the body matters to me in that the physical sensations are relevant and need consideration. Affect seems to work well with this, so I might examine a few more theoretical concerns and see how they advance.
