In anticipation of Kathryn Ferguson’s lecture, I had a look at some of her films – they are amazing! I love seeing female directors work that speaks to me and this did just that. Her website describes Ferguson ‘creatively re-imagines storytelling by stretching the conventions of cinéma vérité through her art direction, subtle humour, experimental visuals, and choreography. Her work is focused around creating more positive portrayals of women on screen. Her films focus on representations of the real by featuring stories of people who are not generally represented in the widespread media and challenging non-inclusive tropes within advertising, fashion and music.’ I think a good step for me would be to create an artist bio to help establish my purpose.
