Following Vicky’s advice – What do I want to do after LCF?

As the Spring Term approached, Vicky encouraged us to think about what it is we want to do after our course finished and to think about this in terms of the development of our masters project. We were given the following prompts to think about:

Who do you want to work for once you have left LCF? (is it a brand, creative agency, production company?)

My ideal company to work for would be The Future Laboratory which is a strategic foresight company working with various brands to develop strategies. The website says: “With a unique blend of trend forecasting, consumer insight, brand strategy and innovation. We inspire and future-proof organisations.”

What is their output, what types of media products do they make?

The company produces trend reports, strategic services and presentations.

What projects have they made that you admire, and wish you had been a part of the making process?

I love all the trend reports that the company do, particularly the ‘modern love report’ which identified how the travel industry would change in 2030 to accommodate the “plethora of polyamorous possibilities”, self-care and different kinds of situationships.

In that making process, what job role do you have? (art director, director, producer, creative director, copywriter, cinematographer)

Ultimately, I would like to be a creative director, however I am very interested in advertising and looking at societal developments so I think working in an agency such as this one would help me to gain industry experience which I could then use to develop on.

How can you make a fashion media product that would improve your portfolio to appeal to this/ these companies, and give you the experience you need in the job role you desire and answer your research questions?

I could create trend reports myself and then create a strategy and product based upon these foresights. I think a series of speculative advertisements surrounding the future of beauty would be appropriate.
