Continuing on from exploring the idea of various environments and how they are occupied, I’ve frequently found myself looking into swimming pools as a space. These spaces – particularly when eerily unoccupied have always fascinated me and the function of these spaces throughout history vary widely, from being used as public bath houses, to signifying wealth and ones place in society.
I’ve been thinking about the cleansing and baptising aspects of water and the idea of floating within the space – perhaps we are reminded of floating alone in amniotic fluid in the womb?
